Bon Voyage....Cruising the Caribbean!

We were excited to get out of the cold and snow and go cruising to the Caribbean....except in Miami it was only 35 degrees and we were freezing before we even got on the boat (and we only brought our shorts--Yikes)! We had a wondeful time! We went with my brother Kelly and his wife Patty...we enjoyed all the port stops at Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, St. Thomas and St. Marten! The beaches were just beautiful and we came home with some nice tans! It was fun getting to know all the people on the ship our waiters and cruise hosts were a lot of fun and made for a memorable experience!

The Highlight of our trip--WE WENT PARASAILING!!!

WHOA... we were way out there!.. and what beautiful views

of the Island of St. Thomas!.. Neat pic with the other parasail

right beneath us.. we were hoping our ropes would not get tangled!

awwww.... all is well... and Don is happy and relieved to

be back in the boat safe!... What an experience!..Yeah, we

would do it again!.... Definitely!...

One of the few days it was warm enough at sea to actually

go out and enjoy the sun on the deck!... For the most part our days

at sea were rocky and rough!.... A lot of seasick people those days!
Getting off the ship and going on to the Island of St. Martin--it was hot there!

Arghhhh!.. a REAL Pirate of the Caribbean!!

The beaches in St. Martin were absolutely beautiful.. Weather was wonderful! and people so friendly. Half of the Island is owned by the Dutch and the other half by France. We took a tour

around the whole island and were able to go to a Beach on the "French" side.. (if you know what I mean)...

The last day of the cruise... here we are in Miami.. We had a wonderful time, but were

kind of excited to go back home to Idaho.. even if it is cold and snowy!.. haha.. now we are

having a hard time walking straight.. we keep swaying back and forth like we are still on the ship!..

Cameron, Connor and Tanner were so excited to get their souvenoirs from the Carribbean.. They were pretty impressed that Grandpa and Grandma had been in the area of the Pirates of the Caribbean!

Christmas Day 2008 !!!!

Looks like Santa found us all this year!!!!!

It was fun to have Ryan, Val and her boys from Vegas with us for Christmas morning...Santa found them in Idaho!

Heather was excited to use her new mixer she got for Christmas and made us a yummy chocolate mousse.....and who knew Heather could cook----hee hee.....hopefully she will do it more often!

We were snowed in and barely got Kevin and ALy down with us before it got any worse....we just rocked out to their new band they got for the Wii and ate and ate and ate.....It was a nice Christmas for all of us....definately one to remember!

The boys absolutely loved their red flapped old fashioned long john pajamas....It made for some good laffs cause the backs had the actual button flap....too funny! A surprise visit from COWBOY SANTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Tate was soooooo excited to see Cowboy Santa....it was pretty special and made all our night!

Sofie did not know what to think of our first big snowstorm.. She was soo excited to get outside and see why the world was all white outside. .. But once she was in it she was like "What the Heck is this white stuff....it feels colder than heck on my little paws......and it doesn't even taste good!....Merry White christmas everyone! :)

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! Victor and Shelly were able to come and be with us this year. They flew in last night from Colorado! We were all able to sit around the table this year because we were few in numbers. Valorie and Ryan and family went to Arizona with his family and Heather and Casey didn't make it up, she was in charge of dessert and real mashed potatoes....and we didn't think Heather could cook...hmmmm. We have so much to be thankful for and we are especially blessed to have such a wonderful family!!!

Sharon got the perfect yellow go go boots---too cute!!!

Marci did awesome cutting up her FUNky material and making it into bell bottoms and a top...Corin was a PG hipppy with a sign that read...Make Love, not War..--hee hee!!!!

Don has been working sooooo hard to get these trees out!!! The ground is just too hard and cold!! We have been going up and watering the trees to soften the ground and make it easier to get them out!! Kinda neat seeing them come out with the tree spade and put into the basket to sell!! Do you know anybody that needs pine trees......They are wonderful and a great price????

Haha!.. They had a float (pickup) for the Alumni Cheerleaders.. some of us are getting pretty old--but I think we outcheered the float in front of us with the current cheerleaders!.. Two Bits-Four Bits..Six Bits a dollar-All for Malad High--STAND UP AND HOLLER!! YAAAAY !!! (whistle~~~)

Vic and his friends had their 10th Class Reunion up at Brad Horsley's Cabin on the Summit.. They had a fun time .. Good to see all their old classmates... Afterwards Cort and Amanda and little Jack--and Trevor and Haiden and Vic and Shelly came to our house and hung out and reminisced for a while. We sure love these guys!..We miss all Vic's old buddies! What a fun weekend for us!

Don goes on a Pack Trip!

Don went on a Pack Trip for a week in the Tetons. He went with Kyle (Ryan & Val's friend from Ogden) The scenery was absolutely beautiful and they had a wonderful time. These are just a few of the pictures they took...ask me if you want to see more :)...... Great getaway for Don!

Ohhhhh.. Sofie had her little puppies last night
(August 20) I was up at Heidi's for about an hour and Kelly and Patty came to visit. I asked them to come back down to our house and tell me how many puppies they thought Sofie was going to have---SURPRISE!!when we got here Sofie had half way delivered one of the little puppies.... I was sooo thankful that Kelly and Patty were here to help ... I was a nervous wreck.. Sofie was calm and just acted like she knew what she was doing... She delivered a little boy about 8:30 and then about 10:30 she had a little girl (and when I say little.. i mean little---they are just tiny.. kind of scary..) Then about
5 minutes later she delivered another little girl puppy but it was born dead... so sad!....she licked and licked the little puppy and Kelly thought about giving it mouth to mouth............but there was no hope.. it was gone before it was even born........it took a little while for the little puppies to figure out where to get the milk.. but finally they figured it out and all is well... Sofie is worn right out......and so are Kelly and I.. :)

Heather came home on Tuesday to bring some banners she had made
for the Oneida County Fair and Rodeo..and also put up a vinyl sign on
a silo down by Plymouth. So we celebrated her birthday a little early
Happy Birthday Heather!!! We are so happy we were able to celebrate
with you and let you know how much we love you!

Casey came up with Heather in her new hummerYowza!! --How fun is that!..we all love it and wish we had one too!(she spoils her self --but good for Heather --she always gets what she wants! she works hard and deserves it)

YIKES!.. You don't want to get kicked by a horse... especially a Mama Horse who has a colt.. Don was putting the gelding in the same pasture with the Mom Horse and her baby.. The Mom wanted to show the other horse who was boss..whoops.. She kicked at the gelding but missed and got Don instead!...........Good Don didn't have his gun with him..
and Yes.. it hurts every bit as bad as it looks!..

Summer School at Boise

I had to study hard during Summer Appraisal School (for my job!) in Boise.. Heidi and her little family came and spent the week up there with me. They loved the pool at the motel and Heidi had fun taking them all over Boise while I was in Class.. (Check out her blog for more pics of their fun time!) Even Sofie went with us.. we had to pay a little extra for her to stay at the motel-- but she thoroughly enjoyed motel life :) she was a good girl and always went potty outside in the designated area!

Is he a Grullo?

So the little Colt-"Spirit" is growing up and looks like maybe he could be a Grullo.. What's a grullo you ask? It is just the rarest color of horse there is..we thought he was going to be a buckskin like his mother --but he is turning a different color..a lighter gray color and that would make him a grullo.. hmmmm..interesting

Skooter and Spirit enjoy a walk through our backyard (Don has got to get those gates on!)
Good thing they were more interested in mowing the lawn instead of eating the tomaters!

New Home for Tucker( Mr. Biscuit) and Smoky

Well, it looks like Tucker and Smoky have been sold to a new owner (Monica) in Salt Lake City
She calls Tucker "Mr. Biscuit" and just loves him. Monica enjoys Smoky too because he is slower and more trustworthy.. and so she decided to buy them both (she actually has a friend who will probably end up buying Smoky) Their new home is a Boarding Stable in the middle of SLC...I call it a horse prison.. but they actually seem to be happy there. They live in a 10 x 10 cement stall and are fed a couple of pats of hay twice a day and lots of treats. Monica rides them four times a week.. and they get washed and brushed and pampered every day. Smoky rode in the Days of 47 Horse parade in Ogden last week.. and did very well.
Good Luck in your new home Smoky and Tucker.. we will miss you ...(except we won't miss Smoky chewing on the fence posts! )

Girls Camp 2008 at Heber Valley Utah

The end of June I was asked to be the Young Women's President in our new ward. Girls Camp was the following week! What a choice opportunity to get to meet the girls and have fun... Our camp was in Heber Valley on top of the most beautiful Mountain that President Hinckley dedicated for the Young Women of the church. It was the most amazing spot and the spirit was so strong there. There are full time couple missionaries who serve their mission at the camp..(wouldn't that be a fun mission?) We stayed in cabins and had running water and real live bathrooms with showers and flushing toilets!.. It was the Hilton Inn of Camping! There was 14 of us in our cabin. We did all kinds of fun crafts, hikes, challenge courses, skits, service projects and canoeing.. We were spoiled because our meals were all cooked by 4 fantastic cooks from the Malad Stake. We had lots of fun and hardly anytime for sleep--as we were up and going from 6 a.m. until midnight every night. (I was glad to get home even though I had a great time!

My brother is 75 years old---21 years older than me!! I can't believe he is that old! He looks great and we had a fun party for him since all of Lindas boys were up and visiting! Kelly and Patty and their girls all came and two of Keiths boys, Fred and Jeff and their families were all here, of couse Aunt Jill and my family! It was fun seeing all the cousins we haven't seen in a long time some of them 12 years! What a blast!!!

Wow.. what a BIG project... First the old fence had be torn down.. the holes dug (don't hit any utility or water lines!!) and everything had to be measured and setting perfect....Cement poured in the holes...........everyone worked hard in the HOT sun!

All that hard work paid off!! We LOVE our new fence..

I love this picture of her hanging clothes outside on the clothesline ( I still use that red laundry basket to this day!--they don't make em like that anymore!)..... I wish I had more pics of just me and her... she has been gone 32 years now..
I miss her still.....(she's an angel.. in fact, sometimes I think she is my own personal guardian angel! ).... I love you Mumma :)
